Mitchell Starc Shines for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025
Delhi Capitals signed Mitchell Starc for INR 11.75 crore at the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah on November 24, 2024.
Mitchell Starc was dangerous against SRH from the start. In the 3rd over, he dismissed Ishan Kishan and then took the big wicket of Nitish Kumar Reddy.
In the 5th over, he got Travis Head out, a batsman he has dismissed multiple times. Starc wasn’t done yet, he took two more wickets in the 19th over, removing Harshal Patel and Wiaan Mulder to complete his five-wicket haul in just 3.4 overs.
Mitchell Starc Creates History for Delhi Capitals
With this performance, Mitchell Starc became the first pacer to take a five-wicket haul for Delhi Capitals in IPL history and only the second DC bowler after Amit Mishra, who achieved the feat against Deccan Chargers in 2008.
Overall, Starc has 23 five-wicket hauls in First-Class cricket and 12 in List-A cricket. However, at 35, he finally secured his first-ever five-wicket haul in T20 cricket.
Travis Head is a dangerous batter, but Mitchell Starc has dominated him throughout their careers. In 11 innings, Starc has dismissed Head 6 times in 95 balls, conceding only 59 runs. In the IPL, Head has fallen to Starc twice in two innings, managing just 10 runs off 7 balls.

Mitchell Starc Trolled Travis Head
During the mid-innings break, Mitchell Starc jokingly told Murali Kartik that Head avoids taking strikes out of fear of getting out.
“(On dismissing Head six times in T20s) I think that’s why he doesn’t face the first ball anymore.”
Mitchell Starc was pleased with his team’s strong bowling performance against SRH’s powerful batting lineup. He said:
“We know how such a powerful side Sunrisers are. We knew powerplay wickets were key. All-round, it was a fantastic performance in the first innings of this game. It’s nice to be in a new franchise. Our second game, it’s been great to settle in with the guys and get to know a few people. ”
Mitchell Starc admitted he has little cricket left in him and, with limited T20 experience, wants to pass on his knowledge to young players. He said:
“I am 35 and I am not young, but hope there’s still little life left. I haven’t played too much T20 cricket across those 15 years. I am an older one, there’s a chance to talk to the young guys, try and help where I can. I still enjoy my cricket, still love the competitive nature of it and that’s why I am still playing.”
