Pat Cummins’ Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) played against Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 27th match of the IPL 2025 on Saturday, April 12. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the IPL 2025 match against Punjab Kings by 8 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad.
Abhishek Sharma Leads the Chase with a Blistering 141
Sunrisers Hyderabad had a tough time bowling first as all their bowlers were hammered by the PBKS batters, who set a massive total of 245/6.
In response, Abhishek Sharma scored a brilliant 141, smashing a sensational century, while Travis Head contributed with a solid 66. Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan then helped complete the chase in 18.3 overs, securing a comfortable win.

Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Pat Cummins mentioned that the pitch for the SRH vs PBKS match was excellent and suited their style of play. He said:
“Amazing. It suits our style, and we know we are gonna get it. It’s a good wicket and the ball pings around here.”
Being a bowler himself, Pat Cummins was surprised that his team felt somewhat confident while chasing such a huge total. He stated:
“Any over under 10 you feel like a big win as a bowler. It’s kind of crazy that you feel semi-confident chasing that score.”
Pat Cummins also praised Abhishek Sharma for his outstanding batting performance and described himself as a fan of the Indian batter. He further explained:
“Pretty big fan of his (Abhishek) batting. We didn’t want to change the recipe. The batting group played quite a bit last year and we are confident of their abilities. They (the fans) are amazing, always waving the flags and great atmosphere.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a thrilling four-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their previous IPL match.
After being asked to bowl first, SRH struggled against PBKS’ strong batting and conceded 214 runs. T. Natarajan stood out with figures of 2/33, while Pat Cummins and Viyaskanth took a wicket each.
In reply, SRH lost Travis Head for a golden duck, but Abhishek Sharma played a brilliant knock of 66 off 28 balls. He added 72 runs with Rahul Tripathi, who scored 33 off 18. Nitish Kumar Reddy also contributed 37 out of 25. Heinrich Klaasen’s 42 off 26 helped keep SRH on track, and Abdul Samad and Sanvir Singh finished the chase in 19.1 overs.
