The sensational Australian all-rounder and current captain of the Australian T20I squad, Mitchell Marsh, who was picked up by the Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) franchise for a staggering INR 3.4 crores, might be ruled out from the upcoming 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) owing to a serious lower back injury.

The Australian all-rounder was also ruled out of the 2022-2023 Big Bash League (BBL) season due to a brutal back injury after playing just two matches. Additionally, Mitchell Marsh was also ruled out from the ICC Champions Trophy ODI tournament in January 2025 for the same reason. According to reports, Mitchell Marsh is currently struggling to regain his full potential on-field and might have to miss the upcoming IPL 2025 edition.

At the second spot in our list of the top four players who might have to miss the IPL 2025 season due to injuries and fitness issues, we have the sensational bowler from South Africa, Gerald Coetzee. The South African all-rounder, Gerald Coetzee, was acquired by the Gujarat Titans (GT) franchise for a whooping INR 2.40 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction held in November 2025 to solidify their annihilating bowling attack.

Gerald Coetzee was also anticipated to participate in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament. However, he could not perform due to a major hamstring injury which also forced him to step out of the SA20 after playing just one match. Although Gerald underwent a full-fledged treatment and recovery regime, he still reported discomfort and immense tightness in his groin, which ultimately ruled him out of the Champions Trophy, most recently in 2025.

Often hailed as the youngest Englishman ever to score a half-century in a T20 international at the age of 21 years and 17 days against West Indies in November 2024, Jacob Bethell was forced to withdraw from the series due to a hamstring injury. Additionally, Jacob Bethell also missed the Champions Trophy 2025 for the same reason. According to reports, Jacob Bethell is currently recovering and might miss the upcoming IPL 2025 edition as well.

Anrich Nortje suffered a major back injury during the SA20 2025 season in the third match and was ruled out from the remaining season right away.
