A surprising moment happened in the 40th match of IPL 2025 when Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant came out to bat only in the last over (20th) of the innings against Delhi Capitals (DC).

Out for 0 in Just 2 Balls After Batting at No. 7 – Rishabh Pant Made A Big Blunder

Rishabh Pant, who is the most expensive player in IPL history at ₹27 crore, made a surprising decision during the IPL 2025 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals. Although he usually bats at number 4, the LSG captain came out to bat at number 7 and that too in the final over of the match. He faced just two balls and was dismissed without scoring.

Rishabh Pant seemed to be in a cheerful mood before the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals began. He was even seen joking around during the toss.

But as the game went on, things didn’t go his way, and he started getting upset. Pant, who usually bats at number 4, didn’t come out at his usual spot. Instead, Abdul Samad, who has been playing well lately, was sent in ahead of him.

Even when the number 5 and 6 positions came, Pant stayed in the dugout while David Miller and impact player Ayush Badoni went in to bat. This seemed to frustrate Pant, and he was seen having intense conversations with Zaheer Khan.

Pant finally came in to bat on the fourth ball of the final over (20th over) after Badoni got out. This was the first time in nine years, since his T20 debut, that Pant batted at number 7. The only other time he played at that position was back in IPL 2016, when he scored 4 not out off 3 balls against Punjab Kings.

In the game against Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant got out for a duck in just two balls, trying a reverse shot on the last ball of the innings. He looked upset while walking off, and team owner Sanjiv Goenka gave an angry smile from the stands. So far in IPL 2025, Pant has scored only 106 runs at an average of 13.25 and a strike rate of 96.36.
