IPL 2025 Set to Kick Off in March
IPL chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed on Monday that the IPL 2025 edition of the league will kick off on March 21. The mega auction, which took place over two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia last November, saw 182 players being sold for a total of Rs. 639.15 crores.
Schedule and Venue Details for IPL 2025
Dhumal mentioned that the final schedule will be out soon, as discussions with stakeholders are ongoing. “The IPL 2025 season will begin on March 21, and the schedule will be released in a few days,” he told reporters at the third edition of the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh. He also added that while there aren’t any significant changes to the IPL rules, he is optimistic about securing two to three matches at Dharamshala Cricket Stadium this season.
“National matches are already happening here in Bilaspur, and in the future, we expect the Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy to have matches here too. We’re also hopeful about bringing more games to Dharamshala. Last time, there were two matches; this year, we’re aiming for three. There are no major rule changes, but IPL remains the world’s top cricket league, with the best players competing. This IPL 2025 season is set to be even bigger and better.”

Sansad Khel Mahakumbh: A Platform for Rural Talent
The third edition of the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh began on Monday at Bilaspur Cricket Stadium, with 45 teams from across the district participating. The event will run until March.
Dhumal highlighted the importance of the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh in promoting sports talent from rural areas, noting that many of the nation’s emerging stars come from such backgrounds.
“If you look at where the top talents in sports are coming from, it’s mostly villages. Whether it’s cricket or any other sport, the new stars are emerging from rural areas. Players like Shubman Gill and Rinku Singh have shown that even without a strong family support system, talent can rise to the top.
Renuka Singh Thakur, from our own Himachal, was named ICC’s Women Cricketer of the Year last year. When platforms like this are available, more hidden talent will get the chance to shine. I believe this will benefit both the state and the country in the long run,” Dhumal concluded.
