The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took strict action against the captains of Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings – Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer, after the duo were found guilty of breaching the IPL 2025 Code of Conduct during the Qualifier 2 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.

Shreyas Iyer has been fined INR 6 lakh

It has to be noted that both teams have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate, and hence, Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya had to pay the fines. This is the second time that Punjab Kings’ captain Shreyas Iyer has been found guilty of breaching the Code of Conduct. Hence, Shreyas Iyer has been slapped with a fine of INR 24 lakh. On the other hand, the rest of the team will be fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their match fees.

As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Iyer was fined INR 24 lakhs,” the BCCI said in an official release.

The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” the statement added.

Hardik Pandya fined INR 30 lakh

Apart from Punjab Kings, Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians have also been found guilty of breaching the Code of Conduct. This is the first time in the ongoing 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League that Hardik’s team has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate. This is the reason that Hardik Pandya has been fined INR 30 lakh. This is the highest amount of fine that any captain has paid in the ongoing 2025 season of the Indian Premier League.

“As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined INR 30 Lakh,” the BCCI release stated.
