Washington Sundar, the 25-year-old all-rounder from the India National Cricket Team, made his debut for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 19th match of IPL 2025 on Sunday, April 6.
Washington Sundar Makes IPL 2025 Debut for Gujarat Titans
Washington Sundar finally got his Gujarat Titans cap for the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, after sitting on the bench for a long time.
He was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 3.20 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction after being released by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Sundar has been the most affected player since the impact player rule was introduced, as teams tend to prefer specialists over all-rounders in the playing XI.

Sundar’s Stunning Six Recreates His Famous Gabba Moment
Washington Sundar didn’t get a chance to play in the first three matches of the season for Gujarat Titans (GT). However, the slow pitch in Hyderabad led the Ashish Nehra-led team to give him an opportunity.
Surprisingly, Shubman Gill didn’t let Washington Sundar bowl during the match. Instead, he used only five bowlers – Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Prasidh Krishna, Rashid Khan, and Sai Kishore. Siraj was the most successful bowler, taking 4 wickets.
The Gujarat Titans team management didn’t completely overlook Washington Sundar. After the early dismissals of Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler in the first 4 overs, he was sent to bat at No. 4.
Sundar made the most of this opportunity and played a great innings, scoring 49 runs. In the 6th over, he took Simarjeet Singh for 20 runs in one over.
Washington Sundar hit two fours on the first two balls, then followed it up with a six over fine-leg on the fourth ball. He saved his best for last, hitting a huge six on the sixth ball, similar to his famous Gabba six off Pat Cummins.
