The IPL has always been about more than just performance on the pitch with IPL 2026 around the corner, IPL 2026 Coaches have their eyes on them instead of the team they oversee. Franchises are actively changing coaches to improve their chances of winning when they begin playing later in March this year.

Top 5 major changes of IPL 2026 Coaches

1. Abhishek Nayar Takes Charge at KKR

Kolkata Knight Riders have promoted Abhishek Nayar to the position of new Head Coach in place of Chandrakant Pandit. Abhishek Nayar is no stranger to Kolkata. He has always been an integral part of Kolkata’s academy system. Nayar is credited with grooming talent like Rinku Singh. This appointment is a step in the right direction in changing the way cricket is coached in India.

2. Kumar Sangakkara Returns as RR Head Coach

Rajasthan Royals are delighted to welcome back Kumar Sangakkara as Head Coach. Kumar Sangakkara returns in place of Rahul Dravid, who had taken charge temporarily. Kumar Sangakkara shall continue to be Director of Cricket for Rajasthan Royals.

3. Shane Watson and Tim Southee Join KKR Support Staff

KKR are strengthening their coaching staff with the additions of Shane Watson and Tim Southee. Watson, an assistant coach, has the championship credentials, whereas Southee will now become a bowling coach, giving a new perspective as a former player, having played recently in T20 competitions.

4. Ian Bell Strengthens Delhi Capitals Setup

Ian Bell has been appointed as an assistant coach at Delhi Capitals, with Hemang Badani at the helm. Bell, a technically sound player with a calm demeanor, will look to shore up Delhi Capitals’ inconsistent batting order, especially young Indian players looking to make a mark at the international level.

5. Varun Aaron Named SRH Bowling Coach

Varun Aaron has been named the new bowling coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad, taking over from James Franklin. Because of Aaron’s relatively recent move from being a player to being a coach, he has an advantage understanding the requirements of today’s game of T20 cricket. His knowledge will be important to the Perth Scorchers bowling unit, which is headed by Pat Cummins.
