IPL 2026: Today is the Epic clash between the Punjab Kings and Lucknow Supergiants at Lucknow Ekana international Stadium. Where Punjab Kings enter their final league game of IPL 2026 against Lucknow Super Giants with everything on the line. The match at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow has effectively turned into a knockout after a season that has gone from total control to a late collapse. What once looked like a comfortable playoff qualification has now turned into a last-game survival test.

From strong start to sudden slump

Punjab Kings began IPL 2026 in dominant fashion, winning seven matches in a row and sitting comfortably near the top of the table. At that stage, they looked settled, balanced, and almost certain to finish inside the top four. But their campaign has taken a sharp turn. Six straight defeats have completely changed their position, both mentally and on the points table. They currently sit fifth with 13 points and a net run rate of +0.227. While they are not eliminated yet, their situation is fragile. The team is now relying on combinations and results from other matches rather than their own control. The margin for error is completely gone.

Scenario if PBKS win

A win against Lucknow Super Giants will take Punjab Kings to 15 points and keep them alive in the playoff race. However, even then, qualification is not guaranteed. Rajasthan Royals can still move past them on points, and Kolkata Knight Riders can also finish on 15, which could push the battle down to net run rate. So a win keeps them in contention, but does not confirm a top-four finish. If Punjab Kings lose this match, their campaign ends immediately. They stay on 13 points and are officially knocked out of the tournament, regardless of other results.

If the match is washed out

A no-result would take them to 14 points. Even then, the situation remains uncertain. Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Delhi Capitals could still overtake or match them, making net run rate the deciding factor for the final playoff spot. At this stage, Punjab Kings are not just playing a match, they are fighting to keep their season alive. Every over could decide whether their early dominance leads to a playoff finish or ends in disappointment.
