IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians, who started their IPL 2026 campaign on a disappointing note, made a strong comeback with a commanding win over the Lucknow Super Giants, thanks to an all-round team performance. MI broke their losing streak and handed the Rishabh Pant-led side their seventh consecutive defeat of the season.
LSG are currently reeling at the bottom of the table with just four points from two wins and a negative NRR of -1.076, while MI sit in ninth place with three wins from 10 matches and a negative NRR. The qualification chances for both teams now depend heavily on winning their remaining matches, along with opponents results going in their favour.
Punjab Kings tops IPL 2026 points table
Despite two back-to-back losses, Punjab Kings continue to hold the top spot with 13 points, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru are placed second with 12 points. Meanwhile, both Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are at the third and fourth spot with 12 points each. Gujarat Titans, also on 12 points but behind on net run rate, remain in contention and could break into the top four if they continue their three-match winning run.
Neither LSG nor MI are mathematically out of the playoff race. If they manage to win all their remaining games, they can reach 14 points a total which is usually enough to secure a spot in the top four.
