Over 1,500 Players Registered for the IPL 2025 Auction
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the list of 1,574 players who have signed up for the auction. These players will be available for the 10 IPL teams. Marquee Players Split into Two Sets
In a new twist, the BCCI has decided to split the marquee players into two sets. This is different from the 2022 auction, which had just one set. Similar splits were done in the 2018 and 2014 mega auctions. Each set will have 8 to 9 top players.
Cricketers like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mitchell Starc, and Jos Buttler are expected to be in these sets. Each of them will have a base price of INR 2 crore.

Mitchell Starc made history in last year’s auction. He became the most expensive player in IPL history. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought him for INR 24.74 crore. His strong performances helped KKR win their third IPL title. However, KKR has released Starc ahead of the 2025 auction, and he will be available again.
