Meaning of a Super Over and Rules to Play It
Super Over is played when two teams play the match and there is a tie between them as they have scored the same total. Then both the teams get a chance to play an over to make a new score to win the match. The team gets a chance to select three players for the over and two wickets are allowed.
Rules to Play a Super Over:
- Super Over should be played on the same pitch.
- The team who batted second will get a chance to bat first.
- Super Over will begin immediately after 10 minutes of the previous game.
- The bowler gets a chance to choose his side of bowling.
- Both Umpires had to stand exactly where they were standing during the game.
- The rules for the match will be the same.
- In Super Over, one bowler and three batsmen are allowed to play.
- As per the new rule of IPL T20, the result should be announced within 30 minutes.
- Even after playing the Super Over, if the score of both teams remains the same then it is a tie.
