IPL Records and Statistics: Individual Bowling Records – Best Career Strike Rate

The world’s most esteemed T20 franchise competition is the Indian Premier League (IPL). Batsmen’s strike rates are important in the T20 format, possibly even more so than averages. A fast knock has altered the outcome of a game on numerous occasions in the IPL as well.

The best career strike rate in the IPL belongs to Andre Russell, who had a rate of 186.41. Among players in the lucrative league who have faced at least 125 balls, Russell holds the record. Rishabh Pant, an Indian player, holds the record with a strike rate of 162.69. The IPL player with the greatest strike rate for a single inning with at least 25 runs scored is Chris Morris. For Delhi Capitals versus Rising Pune Supergiant, the South African hit an undefeated 38 of only nine deliveries, doing so at an astounding strike rate of 422.22.

In light of this, let’s have a look at the top five Indian batsmen in terms of strike totals in IPL innings.

2 13.6 Adam Zampa RPS/RCB 21 370 287 2016-2020
3 14.4 Kagiso Rabada DD/PBKS 99 1,966 1,428 2017-2022

Ashish Reddy DC/SRH 18 396 262 2012-2016

Lungi Ngidi

Together with Kagiso Rabada, Lungisani Ngidi represents South Africa’s perspective on rapid-fire attacks. Standing tall at 1.93 meters, Ngidi can bowl above 140 kph, seam it either way and keep the batters on their toes with punishing short-pitched deliveries. Additionally, he has a reputation for bowling big balls with an open-chested bowling run-up.

Ngidi made his Test debut against India at Centurion in January 2018, coming in for Dale Steyn, who had injured his heel in the first Test at Newlands, Cape Town. He finished with the perfect script, nabbing a six-fer on debut and impressing everyone with his pace, hostility, and attitude. He famously set up a rampant Virat Kohli in his debut Test, bowling three balls outside off before angling one on the pads and trapping India’s captain plumb in front, helping South Africa win the Test and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa, then in his teen years, immediately attracted comparisons to Shane Warne due to his boyish appearance and similar motion. Scouts and experts noticed the somewhat familiar action when Adam Zampa played for Australia U-19 in their victorious 2010 World Cup campaign. They immediately identified the old-school style of tossing the ball over the eye-line and cunning deceit.

Zampa made his New South Wales first-class debut in the 2012–13 Sheffield Shield after receiving a state contract in 2012. For the following season, he relocated to South Australia, where he has continued to excel in the Sheffield Shield. He first resided in South Australia, where he met with Johan Botha, the state’s captain at the time, and received training at the Australian Center of Excellence.

Kagiso Rabada

The young tearaway pacers typically grab the spotlight due only to their ferocious speed and lousy bounce. As near to an “optimal combo” as one can get is Kagiso Rabada. Therefore, the overall opinion was the typical “potential-great-if-honed-appropriately” when 20-year-old Kagiso Rabada debuted against India in November 2015. A prodigy who guaranteed the South African squad with his performances that the country’s fast bowling future was in good hands came as a welcome surprise.

Wanindu Hasaranga

Wanindu Hasaranga is an aggressive middle-order batsman who was immediately drafted into the national team from Sri Lanka’s under-19 squad. He is also a very useful leggie. He had a fantastic start to his international career when, in June 2017, he cleaned up Zimbabwe’s tail in his first-ever ODI appearance, becoming the third debutant overall and the first leg-spinner ever to accomplish it. At 19, it came in just his third over of international cricket.

Ashish Reddy

Ashish Reddy, a Hyderabad native and native-born player made his first-class debut for Hyderabad against Saurashtra at home in 2012. Throughout the 2012–2013 season, he had a successful outing. In addition to taking 29 wickets and being the team’s highest wicket-taker, he also made valuable contributions with the bat. This meant that in 2012, Deccan Chargers made him an IPL contract offer, and he played a few games for them before switching to Sunrisers Hyderabad for the next season. However, because he did not play to his total capacity during the 2013–14 Ranji season, he did not have a wonderful time. Interesting trivia: In Sainikpuri, Ashish Reddy’s parents own a stationery store.
