For the longest time, Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir held the IPL record for the best bowling stats before Joseph took the top spot on this list. Tanvir had an outstanding bowling performance against CSK during the league’s inaugural season, returning figures of 6/14 in his four overs.

Alzarri Joseph

Before the 2019 IPL began, few people outside of the Caribbean had even heard of Alzarri Joseph. On April 6, 2019, Joseph made sure that everyone was aware of his identity and skill. Against a raging Sunrisers Hyderabad team and a modest 137-run goal, Joseph performed brilliantly in his debut. The SRH team was dismissed for 97 runs after he took six wickets for just 12 runs, giving him the best-ever IPL stats. David Warner, the captain of the SRH, was the wicket that Joseph took with his very first ball. He then used pace to dismiss Rashid Khan, Deepak Hooda, and Vijay Shankar, capping the SRH innings with the dismissals of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Siddarth Kaul.

Anil Kumble

For a long time, Anil Kumble owned the Indian record for the highest stats ever in an ODI game. That he had a comparable track record in the IPL is hardly shocking. Kumble used all of his experience during the second IPL season to severely humble Rajasthan Royals.

Ishant Sharma

The last person on this list is Ishant Sharma, who destroyed the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in a span that not many people will ever forget. There aren’t many finer bowlers in all of cricket than the lanky pacer when he’s singing than Sharma, who has always been a hostile bowler. Deccan Chargers believed one of their pacers would contribute when defending a meager goal of 130. What did Sharma do? To get Kochi down to 2/4, he eliminated Parthiv Patel, Raiphi Gomez, and Brad Hodge in the same over.

Ashish Nehra

With his seventh three-wicket haul of the year, Ashish Nehra slowed down the Royal Challengers Bangalore batting order. He claimed Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers as two of his three victims.

When Nehra received the ball and was ordered to complete his task, it was nearly like any other day at the park. He performed his duties effectively. Nehra has been CSK’s go-to bowler when it comes to getting wickets early, having taken 22 wickets this season. When asked what the secret to his consistency this season has been, Nehra believes that he is the same bowler, doing the same things, despite his age and playing in a format that has caught everyone off guard.
