Rohit Sharma, the current Indian skipper, holds the record for most ducks in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rohit is the most successful captain of the IPL, with 5 IPL trophies and all the trophies he won for Mumbai Indians. The right-handed opener also represented Decan Chargers before joining Mumbai Indians.

But one of the most successful white ball openers of International Cricket tops the list of most ducks, with 14 ducks in 221 matches. In the game against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022, he got dismissed by Mukesh Chaudary in the 2nd ball of the game and passed Piyush Chawla to top the list. But between those, the hitman has smashed 5764 runs from 221 games, with a strike rate of 130.28, including a magnificent century.

Piyush Chawla:

Piyush Chawla, the former Indian leg-spinner, is in the second position on this list with 13 ducks in 165 innings. Chawla represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings, and Mumbai Indians throughout his IPL career. He hit the winning runs for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2014 final. Piyush Chawla is one of the most successful bowlers of the IPL. After making his debut for Kings XI Punjab, Chawla bagged 157 wickets with a decent economy rate of 7.88 and is recorded as the 5th most wicket-taker in the league.

Harbhajan Singh:

Ducks: 13

Matches: 163

Another Indian all-rounder, Harbhajan Singh, is part of this unfortunate list, with 13 wickets in 163 matches. The former legendary off-spinner of the Indian Cricket Team has played IPL for the big three franchises Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders. Bhajji also had a brilliant IPL career with 150 wickets in 163 matches with a mind-blowing economy of 7.08. But then, as a batsman, he is listed in the number 3 position for scoring the most ducks. But he also played some smashing knocks with the bat that put his team over the victory line.

Mandeep Singh:

Ducks: 13

Matches: 107

The dashing batter from Punjab has represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals in his IPL career. He is in the fourth position on the list for scoring the most 13 ducks in 163 matches. He made his debut for KKE but failed to leave an impact. Finally, he got his breakthrough season in 2012 when he became the top run scorer for his franchise Kings XI Punjab. The versatile batsman played his last match in the previous season of IPL for Delhi Capitals. With seven half-centuries, he has scored 1692 runs with a healthy strike rate of 123.77 in his IPL career.

Parthiv Patel:

Ducks: 13

Matches: 139

The former Indian Opener, Parthiv Patel, is in the fifth position on the list with the same number of ducks as the previous two batters spoken of. The former Indian opener has represented the Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Parthiv made his debut in the inaugural IPL season in 2008 for CSK. The lefty has a decent IPL career with 2848 runs at a strike rate of 120.78, including 13 fifties.

Parthiv played his last match for RCB against SRH, where he got out on a duck. Parthiv used to leave impacts with the effective start of the innings, for which he had always been a hot purchase for each franchise. Some records are made, without even being tried to make. The record of most ducks is one such record. The batters included in the list aren’t below the average batters at all. It can happen with any batter when he is new to the crease. But they came back even harder every time they fall, and it was their achievement.
