No Regrets: Rituparno Opens Up About His Action
Rituparno, who was taken into police custody and granted bail on Monday, does not regret his actions because he got to meet his idol. Rituparno has been receiving cricket coaching since he was 12 at Netaji Athletics Club in Jamalpur.
In an interview with a leading media, Rituparno shared what Virat Kohli told him after he ran onto the field to meet him.
“The moment I touched his feet, Virat Kohli sir picked me up, asked my name and said jaldi se bhaag ja (run away fast). Kolhi sir even asked the security personnel coming to catch me to not hit me and asked them to escort me out of the ground gently,” the 18-year-old said.
“I had planned to enter the ground at any cost and prepared myself. I do not have any regrets. I am very happy that I was successful and that I could touch my god,” he said.
The police asked for more custody, but Magistrate Mukhopadhyay granted Rituparno bail with the condition that he cannot enter Eden Gardens for this IPL season.
Pakhira returned to Burdwan on Monday, still caught up in the excitement of the unusual events. His family has had mixed emotions about the situation.
His mother was angry with his actions but told him to keep working hard if he still wanted to pursue a career in cricket. On the other hand, his father and sister, who have always supported him, are finding it difficult to accept his recent behavior. Rituparno’s mother, Kakali, asked the court to forgive her son.
“He adores Virat Kohli. For him, he is god. We are requesting cops and judiciary to forgive him considering his age and career,” she said.
