Ireland Cricket Team Colours of Jersey: Overview and Analysis

How important are the colours that Irish cricket teams wear on their jerseys? Most people don’t think about how much the use of different coloured jerseys helped make the limited-overs format of cricket so popular, but this was likely a major factor. It is a widely known and accepted truth that the Boards that administer cricket in a particular country choose the colours of the jerseys worn by the players. Still, each colour has a different meaning in the country it comes from, and the sense of a colour can change depending on how it is used.

What Colours Does Ireland’s Cricket Team Wear?

When playing in a different format, a team may be required to wear a different set of uniforms. Following this, we will provide a quick overview of the several cricket uniforms that Ireland utilizes depending on whether they are playing a test match or a limited-overs match.

Test Match:

Irish players don the traditional white cricket uniform required of all test teams when competing in cricket tests. They might be wearing a white sweater with a green V-neck if it is cold outside, which you might see if you look closely. The sponsor’s logo is on the left side of the shirt, while the Cricket Ireland emblem is on the right side of the shirt. They wear either a white baseball cap or a blue cap with the Cricket Ireland emblem stitched into the front when out in the field. Their helmets are also blue, each with the Cricket Ireland logo in the middle of the front.

ODI And T20:

Ireland’s limited-overs cricket uniform is Emerald Green (in ODIs) or lawn green (in T20s) with dark blue and white accents. The uniform includes the following:

  • The Cricket Ireland emblem is on the right breast.
  • The sponsor logo is in the centre.
  • The manufacturer’s logo is on the left breast.

All of the field players sport navy caps in the classic baseball style. The colour dark blue, also called “presidential blue,” is featured prominently on the uniforms of many all-Ireland teams in sports like hockey and rugby union. The Irish presidential seal and the Irish section of the British royal coat of arms both inspire this hue. The garment’s sponsors’ logos are moved to the opposite sleeves to make room for the white “IRELAND” inscription on the chest of the jersey during ICC-sanctioned tournaments. Both CoinDCX and O’Neills are on board as sponsors.
