Ireland made their debut in cricket during the 19th century with their debut match in 1855 in Dublin against England. The Irish Cricket Team was awarded Test status on 22 July 2017. The status allowed them to play in the Test matches. Before attaining this status, the Irish team played first-class international cricket in the Intercontinental Cup. The team played its first ODI against England in the year 2006. During the match, the Irish team made several headlines to confirm their ODI status. To date, they have several records in their name. Their players have made the country proud.

James Boucher

The right-handed batsman and off-break bowler made his debut in cricket in the year 1929. Out of all the matches that he had played for Ireland Cricket Team, 28 had first-class status. In those matches, he took 168 wickets with an average of 14.04. To date, he is one of the two bowlers to take more than 300 wickets.

Trent Johnson

The Irish Australian cricket coach and former cricketer Johnson initially played for South Wales and later moved on to Ireland Cricket Team. The right-handed batsman and right-arm-medium-fast bowler made his debut for the Irish team in the year 2004 and later was made the captain of the Irish cricket team. In his 28 first-class matches, he took 97 wickets at an average of 17.20.

Alec O’Riordan

The former first-class Irish cricketer is known for taking 75 wickets in 25 matches at an average of 21.39. He made his debut in first-class cricket in 1958 against The Marylebone Cricket in Dublin. 

Dermott Monteith

The right-handed batsman and slow-arm orthodox bowler have a record of taking 70 wickets in 19 first-class matches at an average of 18.96. He captained the Irish Team for 38 cricket matches during which the team won 11 matches, and he has taken 326 wickets overall making it an Irish record. 

Bob Lambert

Right-arm off-spin bowler and right-handed batsman Bob Lambert has played 51 matches for the Ireland Cricket Team. He made his debut in 1893 against the I Zingari team. He has a record for taking 67 first-class wickets in 23 first-class matches at an average of 23.03.

Scott Huey

The left-arm orthodox spin bowler and the right-handed batsman had played 36 times for the Ireland Cricket Team and were the notable player. Scott Huey holds the record of taking 66 first wickets in 20 matches at an average of 18.23.
