USA women’s all-rounder Isani Vaghela has been suspended from bowling in international cricket after the International Cricket Council (ICC) declared her bowling action illegal.

This came as a result of the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament taking place in Nepal, where there were concerns raised by the match officials. The suspension of Vaghela’s bowling in international cricket will continue until she successfully remodels her action.

Incident Triggered During USA vs Ireland Qualifier Match

The matter came to light for the first time during the match between the USA Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier and Ireland, when the on-field umpires reported Vaghela’s bowling action for closer analysis.

As per the protocol, the ICC Event Panel then reviewed the footage of her bowling performance in the next match that USA won against Papua New Guinea.

After a thorough assessment, the ICC Event Panel found that Isani Vaghela’s bowling action was not up to the mark, resulting in an immediate suspension of her bowling activities in international cricket. Vaghela will be allowed to bowl only when she rectifies her action and clears an ICC-approved reassessment.

The 20-year-old medium pacer marked her T20 International debut in 2021 and her ODI debut in 2024. Although she is quite young, Isani Vaghela has been a regular part of the USA women’s team.
