Mohun Bagan Vs Jamshedpur: Super Giant pulled off a sensational comeback in the second leg of the ISL 2024-25 semifinal
In front of a roaring home crowd at the Salt Lake Stadium, Mohun Bagan Super Giant pulled off a sensational comeback in the second leg of the ISL 2024-25 semifinal, beating Jamshedpur FC 2-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate, thanks to a 94th-minute wonder goal by Apuia Ralte.
They overturned a 1-2 first-leg deficit and booked their third consecutive final appearance
Jamshedpur had a clear defensive strategy going into the game: sit deep and irritate the Mariners. In the first half, the visitors successfully carried out their plan, preventing Mohun Bagan from making any significant progress in spite of tremendous pressure.
The home team had a few good chances, most notably when Jason Cummings shot directly at Albino Gomes in the 35th minute.
Ashique Kuruniyan put Cummings through again two minutes later with a deft back-heel flick, but Gomes made an incredible save to preserve Jamshedpur’s advantage overall.
The breakthrough didn’t come until the 51st minute
When the ball struck Pronay Halder’s extended arm within the box after a corner kick, the referee was forced to point to the penalty spot. The referee decided on the penalty even though many would argue that it was intentional because the situation actually falls into the grey area.
Under duress, Cummings remained composed and skillfully converted the penalty to tie the overall score.

Mohun Bagan pressed on relentlessly, since he had everything to lose
It was worth waiting for, as the decisive moment occurred well into the second half’s injury time. After catching a loose ball outside the box, Lalengmawia Ralte, affectionately known as Apuia, struck it thunderously into the top right corner, denying Albino any chance.
The Salt Lake Stadium erupted as Mohun Bagan spectacularly guaranteed their spot in the ISL 2024/25 Final.
Albino Gomes was the real superstar of the match as he produced super saves throughout the match as they faced 10 shots on target and also a total 35 shots attempted.
