The ITTF Mixed Team World Cup is underway in Chengdu, China from November 30 to December 7. This is the third edition of the tournament.

Sichuan Gymnasium in Chengdu is hosting the event for third consecutive year.

A total of 16 teams are taking part in the tournament that will witness 52 matches over three stages. These teams are split into four equal groups for Stage 1 and will face each other once in round-robin ties. The top two teams from each group move to Stage 2, where they are clubbed into a single pool of eight.

Teams that have already played each other in the first stage will not meet again in Stage 2. Instead, the result of their first-stage encounter will be carried forward.

All other teams will play each other once in the second stage, following which the top four advance to the semi-finals.

Every tie is contested in a first-to-eight games format. All individual matches will be played in the traditional best-of-three games format but once a team wins eight games, the tie ends. Players fielded in mixed doubles are ineligible for subsequent singles matches.

The team matches begins with a mixed doubles tie, followed by two singles matches – women’s singles first, then men’s. If needed, women’s and men’s doubles matches will be played, with the order of the final two rubbers decided by the captain of the lower-ranked team.
