The tournament was hosted for the second year in Macao and featured 48 male and female athletes, each selected through world rankings, qualifiers, and automatic entries. The men’s competition at the ITTF Table Tennis World Cup saw a world-class field. The final match was played between S.D. Lin of China and H. Calderano of Brazil. Calderano reached the finals by defeating China’s C.Q. Wang. Lin made his final debut at the ITTF World Cup by defeating Liang Jingkun despite fouls. Regarding his fouls, he said, I think the referee made the right call. Maybe I didn’t serve high enough. It’s the correct call.”
The match was a showcase of athleticism and tactical brilliance as both finalists battled for the trophy in a thrilling game. Claderano, however, managed to claim a decisive win over Lin with a score of 4-1, earning the coveted ITTF Table Tennis World Cup Trophy.
Sun Yingsha Wins The Women’s Singles At The ITTF Table Tennis World Cup
The women’s final, on the other hand, was a game of precision. Sun Yingsha and M. Kuai played for the win with Sun, ultimately winning the title with a dramatic and stunning 4-0 score.
Kuai reached the finals by defeating Mima Ito of Japan in the semifinals. She said, “This was my first time facing Ito in a major international tournament. She’s a former Olympic champion, so it’s all normal no matter how the scores move,” said Kuai, adding, “I stayed committed to executing my tactics, which was key to the comeback.”
Known for her lightning-fast footwork and beautiful backhand, Sun Yingsha successfully earned the title and celebrated her win.
