The FISU World University Games 2025 concluded on July 27 in Germany after ten days of thrilling action.
The event was the world’s largest multi-sport event, second only to the summer Olympics.
The spectacles were held in the Rhine-Ruhr region – Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, Hagen, and Mülheim an der Ruhr –including capital Berlin.
Nearly 8,500 athletes from over 150 nations in the 2025 edition of the World University Games in 18 sports. The basic requirement for participation is that the athletes must be enrolled at a university.
Japan finished top of the standings of World University Games 2025 following the final day of competition – with 34 gold medals. The People’s Republic of China took second place with 30 golds, with the USA in third with 28.
The FISU World University Games, formerly the Universiade, is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
