The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Jasprit Bumrah as the Player of the Month for December 2024. The Indian fast bowler won the award for his outstanding performance with the ball in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia.
Jasprit Bumrah Named ICC Player of the Month for December 2024
Jasprit Bumrah won the ICC Player of the Month award, beating Pat Cummins and Dane Paterson. The Indian pacer played three matches in December and was outstanding with the ball, taking 22 wickets at an impressive average of 14.22.
Bumrah was the standout bowler for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, leading the team’s bowling attack. He began December with a strong performance, taking four wickets in the pink-ball Test at Adelaide Oval.
Bumrah gave an outstanding performance in the third match of the series at Gabba, Brisbane, taking six wickets in the first innings and three in the second innings, finishing with a total of nine wickets in the match.
He kept his excellent form in the fourth match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the Boxing Day Test, picking four wickets in the first innings and five in the second.
Achieving Milestones: Bumrah’s 200th Test Wicket
Overall, Bumrah took 32 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and was India’s top bowler. He was named Player of the Series and became the highest-ranked bowler in the ICC ratings, surpassing Ravichandran Ashwin’s 904 rating points.
During the series, Bumrah also reached a big milestone by taking his 200th Test wicket, becoming the fourth-fastest to do so. He is the first bowler in history to claim 200 Test wickets with an average under 20.
