Reigning MotoGP World Champion Jorge Martin was sidelined from the first few rounds of the 2025 season due to a series of injuries sustained during the pre-season activities. His troubles began with a severe crash at the Sepang MotoGP test in February, where he suffered multiple fractures, after which he had to undergo surgery in Europe.

He suffered another finjurt just days after recovering ahead of the season opener in Thailand. These injuries didn’t only disrupt Jorge Martin’s title defense but also affected Aprilia’s development program for their RS-GP bike, as Martin was crucial for their data during testing. However, despite these setbacks, he is set to make a stunning comeback showcasing his resilience and never-ending determination.

Jorge Martin is set to make a comeback in the highly anticipated Qatar GP, which is scheduled to begin on 13 April 2025. According to recent developments in his road to recovery, his medical conditions have shown positive signs.

Aprilia confirmed on Wednesday, “Jorge Martin underwent an X-ray follow-up yesterday; the evaluation is positive, as a bone callus is clearly visible at the level of the scaphoid fracture. The synthesis screw is well positioned and tolerated, confirming the expected and correct outcome of the surgery.”

Dr. Xavier Mir, who conducted Jorge Martin’s latest medical check-up said, “The clinical and radiological examination of Jorge Martín’s scaphoid, radius and pyramidal fractures show a good evolution that allows us to start a new stage in functional recovery, to arrive in Qatar and see what feelings the rider has in order to be able to participate in the grand prix, always after passing through MotoGP medical control.”

Aprilia has been working actively in developing the RS-GP bike to better suit Martin’s needs. Test driver, Lorenzo Savadori, “Different than the one he tried in Barcelona and Malaysia, but developing and closer to his demands. On Saturday, we updated him and, with the engineers, showed him the telemetry, so he knows everything.”

The Qatar GP is set to begin on 13 April and will be a crucial moment for Jorge Martin as he seeks to reassert his dominance in the MotoGP arena. As of the latest standings after the first three rounds of the 2025 season, Alex Marquez stands at the top, followed by his brother, Marc Marquez, while Jorge Martin sits at the bottom of the table.
