Juan Martin del Potro is defeated in an emotional ATP Tour comeback as he prepares to retire.

Federicco Delbonis defeated Juan martin Del Potro in his last match before his retirement at Argentina Open. Making him emotional Del Potro said that he tried to give everything that he can until the last point and he hopes that he can sleep peacefully today without any pain in his leg. This was the first match that Potro played since March 2019 as he made a comeback preparing to retire.

The 33-year-old has had knee difficulties and informed supporters on Saturday that the tournaments in Argentina and Brazil this month might be his last. “I don’t know whether it’s going to happen, since the pain in my knee is quite high,” Del Potro told reporters. “But I will keep doing a great effort to cure the knee, and if I do that, maybe I will have another chance to play.” There were family members that were a part of the crowd. He even mentioned that this was one of the craziest matches that he ever played in his entire life with the enthusiastic atmosphere and return to the sport after so long. There weren’t any positive signs form him related to playing as he felt discomfort.
