The 21-year-old has struggled with a persistent shoulder problem since 2023 and Real have scheduled the operation for when the tournament in the United States is over. The expanded 32-team Club World Cup takes place in the United States between 15 June and 13 July.

Bellingham is expected to miss the whole of preseason and at least the first six weeks of the new campaign, which would also mean being absent for England’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September.

Bellingham, 21, dislocated his left shoulder against Rayo Vallecano in November 2023. The England international completed the match against Rayo but subsequently missed the next four games for club and country. He has frequently worn shoulder protection ever since.

The Athletic reported in October that Madrid sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, had indicated their understanding was that Bellingham would require surgery at some point to ensure the shoulder fully heals properly, and to avoid a high risk of further dislocations.

Bellingham has made 51 appearances in all competitions for Madrid this season, providing 14 goals and 14 assists.

He has been great for the Los Blancos, this season he has played a deeper role as the arrival of Kylian Mbappe has made it difficult for him to go forward. He has been playing a more central role in the midfield area and has more naturally been less involved in the 3rd half of the pitch.

Last season he was very prolific with the scoring and also scored more than 19 goals and 6 assists. Jude Bellingham will be playing the Club World cup under the new manager, Xabi Alonso who will join the team just before the tournament starts. He will then undergo the surgery after the Club World Cup, which will be after a long time after the injury.
