New Zealand and Bangladesh locked horns in the second T20I on 30th March 2021. And probably, for the first time in cricket history, the team started their second innings without knowing the target.

Bangladesh players when started their chase, were not informed about the revised target they would be chasing. The whole thing that happened in the second T20I of NZ and BAN seems just bizarre. The New Zealand side batted first and was poised for a total in excess of 200. The official scorecard read 173/5 in 17.5 overs. However, when it started raining, the New Zealand innings had to stop abruptly. When resumed, Bangladesh came to chase but was not informed about the target!

For the first 1.3 overs, the Bangladesh Tigers did not know their reach. The umpires then stopped the game for a bit and the numbers were discussed. When satisfied with the numbers, it was announced that Bangladesh would chase down the target of 170 in 16 overs.

Later, the numbers were revised again and at the 14.1 overs, it was decided to give the Bangladesh Tigers a chase to 171 for victory, instead of 170.

In the end, Bangladesh could only manage to score 142/7 in their allotted 16 overs by giving the Black Caps a moment of a laugh. The Kiwis scampered to victory, beating their opponents by 28 runs.
