Juventus lost 1-0 to Atalanta yesterday at the Gewiss Stadium. Ruslan Malinovskiy scored a thumping goal at 87 minutes to give Atalanta a crucial win. With that goal, Gasperini’s men go above Juventus in the 3rd place of the Serie A table with 64 points, 2 points clear of Juventus. Luckily for Juventus, Napoli couldn’t win against Inter Milan and the match ended with a draw with both sides scoring a goal each.

The Napoli fixture was important for Juventus, as if the former team would have won the match, Napoli would be on the same points as Juventus. Juventus are only 2 points clear of Napoli at 4th with 62 points. Andrea Pirlo and the team have lost 5 games in the league and are 13 points behind the table leader Inter Milan.

Juventus hasn’t lost a Scudetto since 2011. Winning Serie A is highly unlikely this season, what’s worse for Juventus is that it might even lose a place in the Champions League by finishing at 5th position or lower in the league. Inter Milan, A.C.Milan, and Atalanta are already above Juventus with Napoli and Lazio catching up. With only 7 more games to go in the league, Andrea Pirlo and men have to win as many games as possible and hope that the other 5 teams lose their matches so that they can go through.

Even if Juventus finishes in the top 4 it would be one of their worst seasons since coming back from Serie B. Having a former player as a coach and Cristiano Ronaldo in the team, Juventus is performing way below their standards. Juventus have to make some serious tactical changes next year to not repeat this blunder of a season
