Kane Williamson’s Spectacular Catch Stuns Lord’s Crowd

Surrey edged past Middlesex by just 8 runs in a thrilling match on Wednesday, July 16. Batting first, Surrey put up a strong total of 189 for 9, thanks to solid knocks from Will Jacks (52) and Tom Curran (47). In reply, Middlesex gave it a good shot but ended their innings at 181 for 6, falling just short.

One of the standout moments of the match came during the last ball of the 7th over in Surrey’s innings. Middlesex leg-spinner Luke Hollman tossed up a delivery outside off, tempting Jason Roy to go big over extra cover. It looked like a certain boundary – until Kane Williamson stepped in.

Tom Curran’s Late Blitz Powers Surrey to 189

Tom Curran played a quick and explosive knock, scoring 47 off just 22 balls with seven fours and a six, before being dismissed by Ryan Higgins, who impressed with figures of 4 for 33. Dan Lawrence added a few runs, and the lower order chipped in as well. Chris Jordan and Jordan Clark finished strong, with Clark ending the innings with a six to take Surrey to a competitive 189 at Lord’s.

Middlesex started well in their chase, with Stephen Eskinazi and Ben Geddes smashing 18 runs in the first over. But Jordan Clark struck early, getting Geddes out with help from a sharp catch by Jamie Overton. Eskinazi kept the innings going and reached his fifty in 33 balls.

Kane Williamson hit two quick boundaries but was caught at cow corner after being tricked by Will Jacks. Leus du Plooy (29) was run out by a direct hit from substitute Adam Thomas, and Eskinazi fell just two balls later, putting Middlesex under pressure. Needing 19 off the final over, Middlesex couldn’t finish the job, and Surrey held on for the win.
