Katie Moon, the two-time pole vault World Champion and the proud recipient of the 2020 Olympic gold medal, is set to take on the role of International Event Ambassador for the prestigious 19th edition of the Mumbai Marathon scheduled for January 21. Organized by Procam Global, the Mumbai Marathon holds the distinction of being a World Athletics Gold Label Race and ranks among the top 10 marathons globally, offering a substantial prize purse of USD 405,000 and attracting participants from around the world.
Expressing her deep honor at the appointment, Katie Moon shared, “While running the race of life, every step is an opportunity to inspire and make a difference. Katie Moon, a solo Olympic medalist, has an impressive track record with three medals at the World Athletics Championships, including a silver in the 2022 World Indoor Championships in Belgrade and gold medals at the 2022 Eugene and 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships. Additionally, her 2023 accomplishments include securing the top spot in the Diamond League.
The athlete’s success extends to 2018, where she claimed a gold at the Toronto NACAC Championship and a silver in the London Athletics World Cup. In 2019, she added a silver to her collection at the Lima Pan American Games. Katie’s journey in sports began in her early childhood, competing as a level 4 gymnast and diver before transitioning to pole vaulting, where she graduated with a state record of 3.97 m (13 ft 0 in).
