Katie Taylor wins third fight but her story with Amanda Serrano was more than just about winning

Madison Square Garden once again witnessed history as Taylor and Serrano gave boxing fans another unforgettable match

Katie Taylor won her third fight against Amanda Serrano on Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York. She won by majority decision and kept her place as the undisputed female super lightweight champion.

One judge gave the fight a 95-95 draw while the other two gave it 97-93 in Taylor’s favour. This win gave Taylor her 25th career victory and completed a 3-0 record against Serrano. But these numbers cannot show how special this rivalry has been. All three fights had a total of 30 rounds filled with passion, effort, and respect.

Their rivalry started in 2022 when Taylor won the first fight by split decision. Then in November 2023 she won the second fight by unanimous decision. And now once again she showed the same calm and strong performance that made her one of the top names in women’s boxing.

The respect at ringside left a stronger impact than just the win

After the fight Taylor said I just want to thank Amanda we made history. This one line showed how much both fighters respected each other and what this rivalry meant.

Serrano also stayed respectful even after losing. She said she had some issues with the result but was still full of praise. I’m crying because it was all for the fans she said. Thank you Katie Taylor for three amazing fights.

Both fighters also made it clear that they would not fight each other again. And that makes sense because this trilogy gave everything it could.
