Keith Miller (1919-2004) was an Australian cricketer and rules footballer usually regarded as one of the sport’s best all-rounders. He participated in 55 Tests and amassed 2,958 runs, 170 wickets, and 31 catches. Additionally, he is the first athlete to have represented Australia in cricket and Australian rules football. Miller was renowned for his talent and flair with the bat and ball, playing wonderfully and entertainingly frequently. He was known for his aggressive style of cricket and was given the nickname “Nugget” for his ability to shift the tide of a match in a single inning. He established himself as one of the most successful opening bowlers in the sport’s history due to his quick and accurate delivery. He also had an outstanding fielding record, having made numerous catches and timely runouts.
On the field, Miller was noted for his upbeat attitude and willingness to take risks. Off the field, he was well-liked and admired for his bravery and sense of humour.
