2 Min Read

In a landmark moment for the NBA, Kevin Durant has officially joined the Houston Rockets through a historic seven-team trade. This trade marks the largest in league history by the number of teams involved. The deal was finalized on 6 July 2025, which included the Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, and Minnesota Timberwolves. It also involved 13 players and multiple future draft picks.

Kevin Durant: A Dominant Force

Kevin Durant, at 36, is a former NBA Most Valuable Player (2014), two-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors, and a 15-time All-Star. He has been a dominant force in basketball for nearly two decades. His move from the Phoenix Suns to the Rockets is seen as a major shift for the team that finished second in the Western Conference last season but exited early in the playoffs.

A Long-Pending Decision

The trade was initially agreed upon on 22 June but could only be officially completed after the NBA draft moratorium ended on 6 July. The Suns received a huge package including young talents like Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks, several draft picks, and other players, while the Rockets acquired Kevin Durant alongside Clint Capela to bolster their roster.

Durant also made a notable personal change by switching his jersey number from 35, which he wore with the Suns, back to number 7, a number he previously wore during his time with the Brooklyn Nets. This change symbolizes a fresh start with Houston.
