The Khelo India Winter Games 2025 will enter its second phase from March 9 to 12 in Jammu and Kashmir’s famous ski resort of Gulmarg.
The first leg of KIWG 2025, took place in the Union Territory of Ladakh from January 23 to 27. Ice hockey and speed skating were the events which were conducted as part of the first phase.
The Gulmarg leg was initially scheduled from February 22 to 25 but had to be postponed due to insufficient snow on the famous Kangdoori slopes and the golf course.
With a fresh spell of snowfall, the second phase is set to get rolling. According to an official note, the latest snowfall and climatic conditions in Jammu and Kashmir were found to be favourable for the technical conduct of the snow sports.
Khelo India Winter Games 2025: Sporting Events at Gulmarg
Four sports events will be held on the ice of Gulmarg. They are as follows:
- Alpine Skiing
- Nordic Skiing
- Ski Mountaineering
- Snowboarding
These competitions will take place at different locations within Gulmarg, which is known for its world-class skiing facilities and breathtaking landscapes.

About Khelo India Winter Games
Khelo India Winter Games is a flagship event held by the Indian government that provides a competitive platform for the country’s top winter sports athletes.
This year, 19 teams representing states, Union Territories and institutional outfits are competing across six disciplines. UT Ladakh currently lead the Khelo India Winter Games 2025 medal tally with four golds, two silvers and a bronze.
The Games follow a team championship format, where medals earned by individual athletes or teams contribute to the overall tally of their respective state, Union Territory or institutions.
The Khelo India Winter Games were first held in 2020, Jammu and Kashmir hosted and won the first three editions. The 2024 edition, co-hosted by Ladakh and J&K, saw the Indian Army claim the overall title.
