Mercedes rookie sensation Kimi Anonelli is heading into the next race weekend, the Monaco Grand Prix, to match Lewis Hamilton’s record of five consecutive wins.
Kimi Antonelli has already won four consecutive Formula 1 races this season, and is eyeing the 5th in the streets of Monte Carlo.
Kimi Antonelli’s winning streak started from the Chinese Grand Prix, then continued to Japan, Miami and recently held the Canadian Grand Prix.
His dominant racing skills have given him a 43-point lead over his teammate George Russell in the driver’s standings. This all happened after George Russell retired from the Canadian Grand Prix due to his sudden engine failure.
Kimi Antonelli Eyes Record
If Kimi Antonelli wins in Monaco, he will match Lewis Hamilton’s record of five wins in a row for Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton did this two times when he was winning championships with the team. The first time was between the Italian Grand Prix and the United States Grand Prix in 2014. He did it again from the Eifel Grand Prix to the Bahrain Grand Prix in 2020.
Kimi Antonelli would also be the driver from Italy to win the Monaco Grand Prix since Jarno Trulli won it in 2004.
The Monaco Grand Prix is a big deal in Formula 1, and winning it would make Kimi Antonelli look even better. People already think he is one of the young drivers. Matching Lewis Hamilton’s record would be a thing for Kimi Antonelli.
The record for the most wins in a row for Mercedes is still held by Nico Rosberg. Nico Rosberg won seven races in a row, from the 2015 United States Grand Prix to the 2016 Russian Grand Prix. This helped him win his Formula 1 championship.
