Meanwhile, Rahul’s sedate knock of 36, coming off 39 balls against Hong Kong in the Asia Cup match, created a lot of attention. Fans slammed him for his slow approach while batting.

Incidentally, the Indian-middle order batter has been earlier tried out as an opener during the Windies series. Meanwhile, team management keeps trust in Rahul of his past records. However, the right hand-batter knows that a few more slow knocks may put his position at risk. Already, Team India has plans to try Rishabh Pant as a backup opener. In addition, players like Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are vying for the opening slot. As a result, Rahul will soon have to discover his mojo. The talented batter needs to get back to his usual best, to stamp his place in the eleven.
