“Alhamdulillah, we can win, we are relieved to be able to revans against them. Earlier we played from the start and continued to accelerate the tempo, we didn’t want to lose speed with the opponent,” said Amri after the match.

The result also came as a sweet revenge against the Japanese mixed doubles. Previously, Amri-Nita lost the rubber game in their first competitive clash at the Japan Open 2025 last July.

“Being able to beat the seed who has won Super 500 and the top 10 will definitely affect our confidence. Hopefully, from here we can continue to play freely,” said Amri.

Amri-Nita are the first representatives of Indonesia to confirm tickets to the quarter-finals. They will next  meet the fourth seed from China, Guo Xin Wa-Chen Fang Hui.

Guo-Chen locked the ticket to the quarter-finals after successfully repatriating the pair from Thailand, Rutanapak Oupthong/Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat, in a two-game match.
