Kylian Mbappe Going Through ‘Psychological Problem’ Amidst Significant Drop In Popularity
Kylian Mbappe’s present professional scenario can be gauged from the fact that he was not included for France’s upcoming fixtures against Israel and Italy.
Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid this summer was one of the most highly anticipated transfers, but so far, things have gone awry for the French forward ever since the switch.
According to a report in L’Équipe, the 25-year-old is going through emotional distress and a psychological problem that is adversely affecting his performance on the field.
The report published by journalist Antoine Simonneau says, Mbappe has not been the same for his new club since being forced to take up the role of a central striker, a position he is not entirely comfortable with. Additionally, the pressure to perform at a big club like Real Madrid, coupled with the expectation of being a leader, has taken a toll on his mental well-being.
Another reason for Kylian Mbappe’s mental distress could be his trip to Stockholm, where he was accused of rape.
Thereafter, he was also dropped from the French national team.

Therefore, several factors including professional pressure to succeed and personal issues could be behind Mbappe’s current situation.
“Because in the end he doesn’t have the attitude of a captain and that bothers a lot [of people] in France. I think there’s a kind of psychological problem in Kylian, because you notice that he’s not the same on the field, he’s not obedient either, we don’t see him enjoying himself. All this, [while] he also sees that in his country he isn’t loved as he wanted to be loved, causes general unrest and has repercussions on the football field I believe,” wrote Simonneau.
The journalist also further added that Mbappe’s popularity has significantly dropped in France, as he has increasingly become the target of widespread frustration and resentment among the public.
“I also think it’s to protect him a bit from all that … Usually the captain talks to the press, so it’s to protect him in the media and also on a sporting level. Deschamps knows the importance of Mbappe to win titles. On a human level he has a lot of respect for him, he thinks about him a lot. They are both in charge in France. I think it’s a way of protecting him by not calling him up,” the Simonneau concluded.

The Real Madrid player also missed the club’s last two matches, being rested despite his return to fitness.
The 25-year-old has failed to find the net for Real Madrid for the fourth game in a row.
Kylian Mbappe has scored only six goals in 11 LaLiga appearances, much below the expectations of his fans.
