Indian badminton sensation Lakshay Sen gave an incredible performance by qualifying for the All England Finals 2026 in the men’s singles category. The young badminton player defeated Victor Lai of Canada in a closely contested match in the semifinals of the prestigious All England Open Badminton Championship.
Young Lakshay Sen won the match with a score of 21-16, 18-21, 21-15 and qualified for the final round for the second time in his badminton career.
Lakshay Sen’s Impressive Journey to the All England Finals
This is the second time Lakshay Sen has made it to the All England Finals. Lakshay Sen has again proved his mettle by winning the match, and this is the second time he has made it to the All England Finals, although he was unlucky the last time around. This match was intense, and it took the players 1 hour and 37 minutes to compete in the semifinal match.
Tough Semifinal Battle Against Victor Lai
The match between Lakshya Sen and Victor Lai was a closely fought contest in the semifinals.
First Game: The match was closely fought as both players started off strongly. The score was tied at 17-16 when Lakshay Sen showed great control as he went on to win four points in a row and thus clinched the first game 21-16.
Second Game: Victor Lai was very aggressive in the second game. Lai was ahead by 11-7 at the mid-game break. Lakshay Sen tried to come back and equalize the score at 16-16, but Lai was too good as he went on to win the second game 21-18.
Experience Shines in the Deciding Game
In Game 3, Lakshay Sen displayed incredible experience and composure as he played aggressive shots with the goal of winning by 15-9. After Victor Lai closed both gaps by scoring a few more (17-15), Lakshay won four straight points to finish off the match at 21-15, which earned him a place in the 2026 All England Finals. Despite his blister and pain in his right toe, Lakshay played with determination.
Lakshay Sen to Face Lin Chun-Yi in the Final
In the championship match, Lakshya Sen will be up against Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei. Lin had secured a place in the final after defeating the second seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand 21-14, 18-21, 21-16 in the semifinal match. The match between the two players lasted 1 hour and 18 minutes.
Prakash Padukone’s Historic Connection
Lakshay Sen’s coach, the legendary Indian shuttler Prakash Padukone, has a historical connection to the tournament too. Prakash Padukone reached the finals of the All England championships in 1980 and 1981 and won the title in 1980, becoming the first Indian to do so. Now, Lakshay Sen is on the verge of creating history by the possibility of becoming the second Indian to win the prestigious tournament.
