Lakshya Sen Storms Into Quarterfinals Of Kumamoto Masters Japan

India’s Lakshya Sen advanced to the quarterfinals of the BWF Kumamoto Masters Japan 2025 with a commanding straight-games win over Singapore’s Jia Heng Jason Teh on Thursday.

The 2021 World Championship bronze medallist and seventh seed defeated the world No. 20 Teh 21-13, 21-11 in just 39 minutes, marking his second consecutive quarterfinal appearance on the BWF World Tour.

World No. 15 Lakshya Sen will next face former world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore in the last eight on Friday.

The opening game was evenly contested, with Teh briefly taking a 10-9 lead before the Indian surged ahead to hold the advantage at the break. From 14-13, the Indian reeled off seven straight points to seal the game.

Switching sides, Lakshya was even more dominant, racing to a 5-0 lead and extending it to 11-3 at the interval. He maintained complete control thereafter, closing out the match with ease.

Later in the day, India’s H.S. Prannoy will take on Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke in another men’s singles pre-quarterfinal encounter.
