Lancashire vs Yorkshire: In an exhilarating LAN vs YOR match at Headingley, Jos Buttler and James Anderson starred to earn Lancashire Lightning a 21-run win and confirm a top-two position in the Vitality Blast North Group.
Buttler’s Destructive Knock Wins Lancashire Domination

Jos Buttler played his best T20 innings of the campaign, making a thrilling 77 from 46 deliveries. His eight boundaries and three mighty sixes enabled Lancashire to come up with a fighting total of 174 for all out.
During his knock, Buttler achieved a record milestone, becoming the second English cricketer, only after Alex Hales, to break the 13,000 run mark in T20 career runs. This positioned him in an exclusive club of just seven batters in the world to reach the milestone.
Though short of a 200+ total, Buttler’s No.3 momentum provided the platform for Lancashire’s ultimate triumph.
Lancashire Overcomes Early Setbacks with Middle-Order Resilience
Phil Salt provided Lancashire with a flying beginning, scoring the first two balls of the match for four and bringing the powerplay to a high point with a six. He added 42 before he was undone by Jafer Chohan, who got rid of Ashton Turner in the same over to swing the momentum.
Regular wickets kept Lancashire in hand. Milnes, Sutherland, and two run-outs, including Buttler, prevented a late acceleration. But the score of 174 stayed defendable owing to decisive contributions from the middle order.
Anderson and Green Star with the Ball in Thrilling Finish
Lancashire’s bowling lineup, led by James Anderson and Australian off-spinner Chris Green, was too potent for Yorkshire. Anderson, newly announced in The Hundred as a wildcard, claimed 3 for 25, while Green contributed 3 for 27 to the tally.
Anderson removed Will Luxton and Dawid Malan within the space of a few overs. Green’s subtle off-spin picked up important wickets like James Wharton and Jordan Thompson.
Yorkshire Fightback Fails Short Of Target Despite Shafique Heroics
Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique spearheaded Yorkshire’s fightback with a smooth 54 off 34 deliveries, ably aided by Will Sutherland’s 28. Together, their stand took Yorkshire to 132 for 5, requiring only 43 runs in five overs.
But Anderson’s over swung the balance, dismissing Shafique at a crucial moment. Green and Tom Aspinwall then mopped up the tail, Aspinwall taking two wickets from back-to-back balls. Blatherwick completed the victory by having Chohan caught off the first ball of the last over.
