Langam Chaoba Devi recommended as the head coach for the Indian senior women’s football team by the AIFF Technical Committee. Priya PV named assistant coach, and Lourembam Ronibala Chanu to continue as goalkeeper coach. The team gears up for the 2024 Turkish Women’s Cup.

The All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Technical Committee has proposed the appointment of former India international Langam Chaoba Devi as the head coach of the Indian senior women’s football team. The decision was made during a virtual meeting on Thursday, with Chaoba Devi’s extensive playing experience and coaching expertise being key factors.
Langham Chaoba Devi, a former assistant coach of the senior women’s team and the current head coach of Kickstart FC, brings a wealth of experience to the role. She represented India at two AFC Women’s Championships and the 1998 Asian Games, making her a valuable asset for the team.
Priya PV, recognized as the AIFF Women’s Coach of the Year in 2023, has been recommended as the assistant coach for the Blue Tigresses. Priya PV served as the head coach of the Indian U17 team last year, leading them to Round 2 of the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers.
The Technical Committee also recommended Lourembam Ronibala Chanu to continue in her role as the goalkeeper coach for the Indian senior women’s team. The committee, chaired by former India captain IM Vijayan, expressed confidence in the coaching staff’s capabilities.
The Indian senior women’s team is slated to participate in the 2024 Turkish Women’s Cup, scheduled from February 19 to 28 in Turkey. This tournament, held during the FIFA women’s international match window, provides a valuable opportunity for international exposure. India’s participation in the Turkish Women’s Cup, after previous appearances in 2019 and 2021, is aimed at further developing the team’s skills in a competitive European atmosphere.
AIFF Acting Secretary General M Satyanarayan emphasized the importance of international exposure for the women’s team. He expressed optimism about the team gaining valuable experience and discovering new talent through participation in the Turkish invitational tournament.
