It was on this day in the year 2020 when legendary player MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket. The former Indian captain is also regarded as the most successful captain not only in the history of Indian cricket but also in the history of world cricket. He is the only captain till today to have won all the ICC trophies. It all started when India first won the inaugural edition of the T20I World Cup in the year 2007. Then it followed by winning the World Cup in 2011 and then the champions trophy in the year 2013.
But like every international cricketer has to retire at one stage or the other. The thing that would be disappointing for the fans is that such a legendary player MS Dhoni who has contributed immensely to the growth of Indian cricket today was not able to give a proper farewell to him. MS Dhoni has never played a single international match for India after the 2019 50 overs World Cup semi-final with New Zealand. India lost all their hopes when MS Dhoni got run-out and eventually lost in the semi-final. The coincidence Indian fans would like to forget is that MS Dhoni got run-out in their debut for India and also in the last match he played for India.
Before MS Dhoni announced his retirement fans hoping to see MS Dhoni again to put all for India in a marquee tournament that is the T20I World Cup to be conducted in 2020 to be hosted by India. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was postponed, and on August 15 when the legendary player MS Dhoni announced his retirement.
