Borussia Monchengladbach secured their spot in the German Cup quarterfinals with a heart-stopping 1-0 victory over Wolfsburg, courtesy of Kouadio Kone’s dramatic last-gasp extra-time winner on Tuesday.

The match kicked off with Monchengladbach taking the initiative, with Joe Scally’s powerful long-range shot from 20 meters coming close in the opening seven minutes, as reported by Xinhua. Wolfsburg responded with their first opportunity, as Aster Vranckx tested Gladbach goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas from the edge of the box three minutes later.

Wolfsburg continued to press, with Nicolas making a crucial save to deny Jonas Wind’s dangerous header.

In extra time, Wolfsburg dominated possession but struggled with accuracy, while Monchengladbach seized the opportunity with Kone’s decisive goal in the 120th minute, securing their quarterfinal berth.
