The next League of Legends update, patch 25.8, is almost here, and it’s bringing a lot of exciting changes to champions and items. Riot Games is working hard to balance the game better, and many popular champions are getting either buffed, nerfed, or adjusted.

League Of Legends 25.8 Update: Buffs, Nerfs And More

On April 8, 2025, Riot’s gameplay designer Matt Leung-Harrison (known as @RiotPhroxzon on X) shared a preview of this patch. Let’s take a simple look at what’s coming in the new update!

Champion Buffs – Who’s Getting Stronger?

These champions will get power boosts to help them perform better:

  • Blitzcrank
  • Brand
  • Hwei
  • Mel
  • Renekton
  • Shen
  • Singed
  • Sona
  • Zeri
  • Zoe

Special note: Mel, the new mid-lane champion, is getting some big buffs because she’s been weaker than expected. The buffs might make her a stronger pick in ranked and pro play.

Champion Nerfs – Who’s Getting Weaker?

These champions are a bit too strong right now, so Riot is reducing their power:

  • Aatrox
  • Gwen
  • Lulu
  • Tristana
  • Yone
  • Yorick
  • Yuumi

These nerfs should help balance matches and give other champions more chances to shine.

Champion Adjustments – Small Changes, Big Impact

These champions are not too strong or too weak, but Riot wants to adjust their skills:

  • Ahri
  • Annie
  • Syndra
  • Xerath

Some abilities may be changed slightly to make these champions feel better to play and more fair to fight.

Item Changes – What’s New in Patch 25.8?

Along with champion updates, system items are also getting reworked. Here’s what’s changing:

Buffed Items:

  • Cryptbloom
  • Opportunity
  • Overlord’s Bloodmail

These items were not performing well, so Riot is making them stronger.

Adjusted Item:

  • Dead Man’s Plate

Dead Man’s Plate is being changed to fix issues with movement speed getting too high. This should make it more balanced in future games.

AP System Getting Better

Rebellion is also enhancing AP (capacity energy) gadgets. Now, every building style will experience more focus:

  • Burst builds will do faster harm.
  • Burn builds will deal extra harm over the years (DoT).
  • Haste builds will give higher cooldown benefits.

Those modifications will help AP champions use the right items for their playstyle and feel stronger in the roles they’re intended to fill.

When Will Patch 25.8 Go Live?

The official League of Legends patch 25.8 will be released on April 16, 2025. Make sure to update your game to try out the new changes!
