Bayer Leverkusen continued their dominant run in the UEFA Europa League group stage with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Qarabag, thanks to Alejandro Grimaldo’s impressive brace.

The home crowd witnessed a fairy tale start as Florian Wirtz opened the scoring just six minutes into the game, capitalizing on Grimaldo’s deflected cross.

Qarabag, seemingly out of nowhere, restored parity in the 16th minute when Tural Bayramov confidently converted a penalty.

Leverkusen, undeterred, pressed forward with Victor Boniface missing a promising opportunity, and Amine Adli striking the woodwork shortly after.

Their persistence paid off at the half-hour mark, with Grimaldo finding the net from Wirtz’s assist, followed by Boniface’s powerful strike from 20 meters seven minutes later.

Early in the second half, Leverkusen continued to impress, with Grimaldo completing his brace after an assist from Wirtz, bringing the score to 4-1. Just three minutes later, Edmond Tapsoba finished a counterattack, sealing the victory for Leverkusen.

This victory marked Leverkusen’s third consecutive win in Group H, keeping them at the top of the standings, followed by Qarabag, Molde, and Hacken.
