The American professional wrestling company WWE developed and marketed the NXT Tag Team Championship for their NXT style of pro wrestling. On January 31, 2013, NXT episode, Adrian Neville and Oliver Grey’s team, British Ambition, won the first title. As of November 14, 2022, there have been three vacancies and 28 reigns amongst 23 teams made up of 47 individual winners. As a stable, The Undisputed Era has three reigns, while stable member Kyle O’Reilly has the most reigns personally with three. Let’s have a look at other champions as well in this article.

  1. British Ambition: Adrian Neville and Oliver Grey form the professional wrestling tag team British Ambition, and they are the inaugural NXT Tag Team Champions. British Ambition, a partnership of Adrian Neville and Oliver Grey, beat The Wyatt Family to win the first NXT Tag Team Championship. The duo disbanded after losing the belts; Neville went on to win additional gold (which we’ll get to soon), while Grey eventually left the organization. Grey continued to compete on the independent circuit under the ring name Joel Redman up to the present, while Neville left WWE after competing in singles matches and went back to using his former ring name, PAC, now competing in AEW.
  2. When they won the Smackdown Tag Tandem Titles on the main roster, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper continued their success as a strong big-man team.  Several times, the Wyatt family would split up. After a remarkable, though brief, the period before his untimely death, Harper would finally join AEW, where his memory would endure forever. Rowan would then change his name to Erick Redbeard and go on competing in independent wrestling matches while globally honing his skills.
  3. As was already discussed, Neville ultimately left WWE, despite having a great singles career in NXT and elevating the Cruiserweight Title to its highest point since its restoration. He currently often participates on AEW TV. In NXT and later as one of the primary voices on Raw and Smackdown for the last several years, Graves transitioned to a life of commentary. Graves was given the go-ahead to compete in the ring in 2022 after having to retire early due to injury, but he hasn’t done so yet.
  4. With a recorded reign of 343 days, The Ascension continues to hold the record for the longest-ever holding of the NXT Tag Belts. They continue to be among the most powerful and outstanding tag teams in NXT history, despite their terrible booking on the main roster. After being freed, they continued to compete as a team in independent wrestling. The last time Viktor wrestled was at the end of 2021, although Konnor has continued to compete in singles matches, most recently on an episode of Impact Wrestling.

Lastly, Pretty Deadly, composed of Elton Prince and Kit Wilson, are the reigning champions and are in their second season. On September 4, 2022, at Worlds Collide in Orlando, Florida, they won the belts by beating Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs, Gallus, and former champions The Creed Brothers in a fatal four-way tag team elimination match.
