Virat Kohli made waves on social media as he opened up about suffering from mental pressure. The prolific Indian batter shared his insights about prioritizing mental well-being. Kohli has been the topic of much discussion over the last few months for his dwindling form in the game. He has been on rest for the last two series. And now he looks upon making a staggering comeback in the upcoming Asia Cup.
Virat has always been known for his aggressive approach to the game. Amidst the discussion, he recently opened up about how he felt “lonely”. And suffered through depression at a stage early in his career. For a player of his stature to say the such thing is a bold but commendable move.
However, as soon as the statement came out, social media went berserk reacting to the comment. After days of Kohli trending on Twitter, his manager has finally commented about the sort of reaction his remarks are receiving. Apparently, Kohli isn’t appreciating the stride with which the audience has taken the comments.

“The representation of a severe condition like depression is very well understood by Virat. He’s spoken openly on the mental challenges of playing the sport at the highest level and he hasn’t shied away from admitting them. Having said that, he’s mentioned that he’s experienced mental challenges at only a certain stage in his career,” said Bunty Sajdeh. Sajdeh is the CEO of Cornerstone, a company that manages Kohli.
“Virat for one will never feel alone when he’s around people who love and support him. That’s where he has got his mental strength from. Every top athlete has gone through mental challenges of dealing with pressures and expectations that come with the positions they are at. Depression is too big and significant a term to be used so loosely,” he added.
The comment is in reference to Kohli’s statement saying, “I personally have experienced times when even in a room full of people who support and love me, I felt alone, and I am sure that this is a feeling that a lot of people can relate to. So, take out time for yourself and reconnect with your core self.”
