Manchester City defeat Bournemouth to set up an FA Cup semi-final matchup with Nottingham Forest, marking their quest for a trophy still alive for this season.
Manchester City defeat Bournemouth
After Evanilson’s clumsy goal in the 21st minute gave the Cherries the lead at halftime, City manager Pep Guardiola faced the possibility of finishing the season without a win for the first time since 2016–17, when he started at the club.
In the face of Bournemouth’s aggression, City struggled for rhythm as Erling Haaland squandered two more excellent chances and had a first-half penalty saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Haaland missing a penalty, very lackadaisical, then he missed another chance and he’s smiling
Keane said on ITV: “Haaland missing a penalty, very lackadaisical, then he missed another chance and he’s smiling. Man City strolling around the pitch are really getting on my nerves, not a good sign.”
At halftime, however, Guardiola worked his magic by substituting Nico O’Reilly for Abdukodir Khusanov. Four minutes into the second half, the 20-year-old, who was playing left-back, provided the equalizer with a well placed cross that Haaland turned in at the far post.
Omar Marmoush for the injured Haaland
After 63 minutes, City was able to score again thanks to another substitution that was this time enforced, Omar Marmoush for the injured Haaland, and Kepa could have done better as the Egypt attacker’s shot slipped under his feet and resulted in the comeback.

This match certainly defined the Norwegian’s season who has not been his usual best in front of the goal.Although he scored the 20th goal of the season but failed on numerous occasions to surpass Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Spanish goalkeeper stood strong at the goal and was not troubled by Haaland on most of the occasions.
The Spaniard has impressed for Andoni Iraola’s side and has made 25 appearances in all competitions, with Bournemouth sitting tenth and right in the mix for European qualification.
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Bournemouth’s stance on Kepa Arrizabalaga
There’s said to be a £5m buy option in the deal and Romano has provided an update on Bournemouth’s stance on Kepa, with other clubs also said to be interested.
He took to X.com and said:
“Bournemouth are keen on signing Kepa on permanent deal after his excellent season on loan from Chelsea.
“Deal will depend on final costs but Bournemouth are happy with his impact, and Chelsea will surely sell Kepa as he’s one of the players on the outgoings list.”
It sounds promising and regardless of the transfer fee Chelsea will be grateful to finally get Kepa’s wages off their books.
